Next #Nindie: 3-for-1 Edition

Mighty Gunvolt Burst releases today thanks to Inti Creates, “but that’s old news!” I hear you say, “what’s coming next?” you cry, well listen here guys, we have a bumper Nindie preview today as next week we get not 1, not 2 but 3 Indie titles coming out on Nintendo Switch and here is what you can expect from them all.

First up, and the title I am most excited about is Cave Story + being released physically via Nicalis Inc.  Cave Story + is seen as the definitive edition of the fan favourite Metroidvania from acclaimed Indie developer Daisuke “Pixel” Amaya.  Along with upgrade graphics, additional character portrait animations and new bonus stages, the title will see a co-op mode added sometime later in the year, a first for the series.

Along with all those ingame bonuses, the physical release is packed with content.  All day 1 pre-orders will include a 32 page instruction manual and a mini soundtrack CD while people who pre-order from GameStop can grab an additional key ring and pouch.

Part of the reason for these goodies is likely to offset the price of the game which stands at $30.  Many fans are disappointed with this price point seeing as the game is rather old and has been available for free in a scaled back form for years.  However, in this writers opinion the changes that are being implemented in to this game, and already exceptional title, are well worth the entry price.  Check out some gameplay below to see if you agree.

Next up is seafaring adventure Oceanhorn: Monster of the Uncharted Seas.

As a young man, you must set out on an epic quest to find you lost father and defeat an evil sea monster.  Journey across the ocean fighting an array of monsters as you battle across countless islands solving puzzles and defeating dungeons.

Being brought to Nintendo Switch courtesy of FDG Entertainment, this Cornfox & Bros developed homage to The Legend of Zelda series has been available elsewhere before, but for those who have overlooked it, this version may well be the best yet.

The Switch version delivers full 1080p/60fps gameplay (720p in handheld mode) and visuals based on the Ultra settings found on PC, as well as Pro controller compatibility. Releasing on the 22nd June for $14.99 and with over 10 hours of exciting gameplay, this is one title i’m sure Zelda fans won’t want to miss out on, check the trailer below.

Last but no means least is point and click horror adventure Bulb Boy coming to Switch courtesy of Bulbware, two indie developers from Krakow, Poland.

As the titular Bulb Boy, you wake up one morning and find that your family have disappeared and a darkness has taken over your house and filled it with a variety of hideous creatures.

As you explore the bulb house you must solve puzzles, unlock new abilities and defeat the monsters who have taken your family away from you.

Throughout the game you will also find flashback sequences that will allow you to play as various members of the Bulb family and discover the mystery behind the story of Bulb Boy.

Releasing on the 20th June, this creepy tale will set you back around $8, check the trailer out below to see if you think that will be money well spent!

And that rounds up this weeks Next #Nindie.  Check back next week for more insight in to upcoming #Nindie titles that might take your fancy!
